Rutgers AD Julie Hermann has formally apologized for her school’s taunting fans who donned apparel that mocked the Jerry Sandusky sexual abuse scandal at Penn State.
Some Scarlet Knights fans stepped well over the line of decency wearing shirts that said “Beat Ped State” and displaying lewd, insensitive banners.
The photos of these shirts on Rutgers’ social media accounts have largely been deleted by the school, but some still linger.
Guy wearing “beat ped state” shirt looks like a dad, and there’s a kid there. Ok, @RFootball https://t.co/RNxkCQVgEE pic.twitter.com/thWuaT4gRf
